Progress 03: Choosing a perspective

Welcome to another progress update of Disposition. With these short updates I'll show how I approach certain game design challenges.

After some play-testing I decided to change the third person camera to a first person camera. The first person perspective helps a lot in creating a claustrophobic atmosphere.

Another reason is simplification. A third person camera has to do a lot more than a first person camera. Follow the player, rotate to the direction the player is moving etc. Getting this right would take a lot of tweaking. Exactly the thing I want to avoid in this project.

To make sure the player can see what's happening behind the car I added a rear view mirror. I like the limited perspective it offers. It shows an enemy closing in. But turn a corner and you just lost sight of that enemy.
