Devlog: Motor City
In this first devlog of Decimate Drive I'll be showing off the latest progress and talking a bit about how the game is made.
Location location location
The setting of Decimate Drive is inspired by cities like Detroit and Chicago. Cities with a history inseparable from cars. Making them the perfect source of inspiration for a game about killer cars.
When playing the game you'll find yourself on strip mall parking lots or maze-like container depots. Locations which should feel eerie and haunted. But also recognizable and familiar.
Inspiration
To make every location feel 'right', I use reference materials like photos and Google Maps. Especially the latter is indispensable when figuring out how a typical U.S. street is laid out.
Some local landmarks, like the Packard Automotive Plant in Detroit, will also make an appearance in the game.

As someone who has lived in both Detroit and Chicago, the scenery is pretty spot on. It's really cool that you use real photos as inspiration. Love the game; always looking forward to more from you :3
Thanks! It's awesome to hear that someone from the area can appreciate the look the game is trying to recreate :D
